Tall Tropical Flowers Wedding Centerpieces

If your wedding reception tables are small or narrow, these centerpieces are the perfect choice to go for. Arrange beautiful esterlicias with lengthy stems in a tall narrow clear vase. Add colorful twigs or bamboo shoots to make the flowers stand out. You’ll be surprised that only 1 or 2 esterlicias will be more than enough, as they are big and bold. They come in different colors (yellow is the most popular one), use these colors to match the rest of the décor.

Around the base, arrange banana trees’ leaves around the clear vase together with another flower like anthurium. Your tropical wedding centerpiece will look elegant, simple and very lively.

Flat Tropical Centerpiece

If your tables are appropriate for displaying flat centerpieces, curl dracaena leaves around the base and place your tropical flowers on top. You can staple the leaves to make sure they don’t curl back into their original position. Add other green leaves for a fuller effect. Place anthuriums or the flower of your choice carefully on top of the curled leaves, making sure they point in all directions. At this point you can arrange your tropical centerpiece with other spring like flowers like gladiolus or small orchids. For a finishing touch add colorful berries and place two candles to lift up the flat centerpiece.

Beach Wedding Centerpieces

For the “beach effect”, you could use an urn shape vase and arrange different types of rich deep vibrant flowers on top with fern leaves to adorn on the sides. In the middle, tie together a few bamboo shoots and place at the very top of the shoots palm trees’ leaves pointing in all directions. The Elegance of the Pincushion

Pincushion flowers come in many different colors and are perfect to add that tropical touch to your centerpieces. You can find them in blue, lavender, white, pink and coral colors. Choose your favorite one (or the one that matches your décor colors) and arrange over sprayed-painted twigs that lay on top of a flat and short vase. Fill the vase with grey pebbles and sand as to emphasize the colors of the twigs and pincushions.

Anthuriums Are Just Magical

By now you can tell it is my all time favorite tropical flower. It is so versatile, it looks great and you only need one or two to create a fantastic effect. Colors range from white, lime green, lots of shades of pink, deep red and vibrant red.

Place three attractive blossoms on a clear vase with a pedestal shape and arrange together with tropical green leaves. I would not mix this type of tropical centerpiece with other flowers. If you do, make sure they are small enough to add a “touch of color” but be careful as the anthurium will overpower any other blossom you combine it with! Try very small pink roses with deep red anthuriums for an elegant effect.

Decide on the color and theme for your winter wedding. Red will give you a lively and festive mood, while icy blue will provide that magical wonderland theme. And white, well, what can I say, white is always so elegant and simple! White flowers just work every time!

Flowers and candles also mix really well when creating your winter wedding centerpieces. Just make sure the candles are unscented, as we don’t want them to overtake the lovely scent of the flowers. Add ribbons to the candles and tie them together in pairs.

Sometimes you also want to think about artificial flowers. They go really well in the winter as it is not the usual blossoming time of year. Use lovely frosted glass vases to hold your candles; you can choose to have a variety of colors.

What about confetti shaped as hearts, or stars, all around your wedding centerpieces? They sure add a festive feel to the occasion!

Natural elements are a great addition to your winter theme. Mistletoe, holly, berries and pine cones they all convey that traditional winter feel. If you have money to spare, another great idea is to have ice sculptures tailor made for your wedding. Have one big one made for the main table, and then ask the sculptor to create smaller ones that would be placed on the individual tables. They sure will impress your guests!

There are literally hundreds of ideas for you to choose from. As with the spring theme, you really want to concentrate on those lovely, deep reds, browns, oranges, magentas, etc the fall has to offer. Set the tone of your theme in warm colors; think metals: gold, bronze, copper…

My favorite color is yellow; which is great for a fall theme. It is such a vibrant and rich color, but also when combined with gold and bronze it deepens the mood creating elegant centerpieces.  Yellow is also a very trendy color, suitable for young couples and also marriages that have reached their gold anniversaries and wish to renew their vows.

Yellow can also be used to create all kinds of desired moods; it can be romantic, warm, lively, modern and at the same time old fashioned. It is such a sweet color that could really fit any style of a  fall themed wedding.

But, of course, we have to think outside the box and consider different, exciting and unique ideas as we don’t want our friends and family to forget this very special day. Why not have your wedding centerpieces arranged with flowers AND pumpkins? What about nuts, leaves and twigs? The outside of the pumpkins could serve as the flower vases and the rest could be arranged around the centerpiece in lovely little baskets.

If you don’t want to use flowers for your wedding centerpieces, then leaves and branches would dress the table elegantly and give it the tone of the fall theme in a “less subtle” way. Use fiery fall colors, attach the leaves to different sized branches and bring the outdoor feel inside! Why not painting the twigs and branches in lovely deep gold? They will give out a lovely glow when the evening sets.

You could use other elements with a more natural approach to your fall theme. Things like straw, hay and wheat ears are full of symbolism on this very special time of the year. They are lovely earthy elements with rural and rustic appeal that can look really impressive if arranged properly.

Each centerpiece could be different from the next one in size and display form. Make each and every table unique!

As you can see, the possibilities are endless. But they should always reflect you!

Let’s have a look at the things you should take into consideration before the very final step:

The size of your centerpieces. If they are too small, they will definitely get overlooked. Unless the theme for your wedding is: less is more!! Now, on the other hand, if they are too big, there won’t be enough room for other things on the table like cards, crockery, cutlery and so on. Also it will make the table look to cramped!!

Now lets look at the height. You really need to consider this carefully. Some people really overlook the importance of their wedding centerpieces and the overall effect they can create! If you have opted for an elegant long candle, then height will not really matter as you probably want it to be quite tall to get noticed. But, if you have chosen floral centerpieces you want to make sure that they are “short” enough for people to be able to see one another and be able to communicate across the table!

Set the tone. Height gives quite a dramatic effect. Think about times of the day, is it going to be daylight, dark; evening casual? Use a variety of colors to create that casual effect. Black and white will give you that elegant ambience and also a chic look and feel!

Your wedding centerpieces should reflect all of this and more. Enhance the room with arrangements that no one has seen before. In fact, have you thought about not having your centerpieces sit on the tables? That’s right. Consider having them in other strategic places, like hanging from above. Or neatly placed in corners, bringing those dead spaces back to life. That will keep your tables free from clutter and also will give you a stylish venue!

Don’t overlook other important things, like, how many exactly will you need for the occasion. Have you thought at not putting one on each and every table but rather on every other table? So, make sure you count your tables before deciding how many centerpieces you will need. Don’t forget about your other tables: the cake one, gift one, etc.

Be consistent. This is so true for everything in life! My background is in corporate identity, and I cannot tell you or stress enough how important it is to be consistent when it comes to colors, shapes, fonts and that particular design for your brand. Your wedding is like “your brand” for the day. When choosing the theme, make sure everything goes according to it, from the very little details to major ones.  You want to keep a consistent look AT ALL TIMES. Believe me, it pays off in the end.

Pay particular attention to the arrangement and look of the centerpiece and do not leave it for the last minute. The centerpiece should reflect the theme you have chosen for your wedding and also it should brighten up the rest of the décor at your reception.

If are on a tight budget you can opt for inexpensive cake toppers or small wedding cake centerpieces at each place setting. They can look very beautiful, and, if your budget allows, make the main wedding cake even more special with custom wedding cake toppers. Having these type of smaller centerpieces you will take the worry away of having big displays at the center of each table.

Wedding centerpieces are usually comprised of flowers but some people find really attractive alternatives by using different types of materials that fits their chosen theme. Whichever way you decide to go, it is very important to keep in mind that wedding centerpieces really require that  “I Love U” factor we all look for in any reception decor as much as we do in our partners!

When thinking of alternatives to your centerpieces, base ideas on your theme; for example, if you are having a seaside themed wedding, place nice pebbles, yellow sand and pretty shells arranged in a way that is both appealing, different and stunning. Your guests will be impressed and it is fun to plan and execute.

Another way of getting inspired is by considering what made you choose your particular wedding dress and mother of the bride outfit. Which colors and/or textures did you go for?
